Providing Quality Special Education and Psychological Services

Vision Core serves as a consultant for Charter schools interested in gaining more information about becoming an independent Local Educational Agency (LEA) for the purposes of providing special education services. This allows a school the freedom to choose special education providers. Vision Core also assists charter schools who want to remain a school of the district with working in partnership with their respective districts to provide in-service training for teachers and parents as well as assisting with Student Study Teams (SST/SSPT), 504 plans and Response to Intervention for students experiencing academic challenges.

Becoming an independent LEA for the purpose of providing special education services can become an ambitious endeavor, and without the proper guidance, can lead to financial drawbacks. Although the process can be intimidating, we at Vision Core have the skills and expertise to walk schools through the process. To become an independent LEA is not as simple as it may appear; schools must first apply and be accepted to a SELPA. Vision Core is able to assist in making sure schools meet all the criteria. Without being accepted into a SELPA, a charter school is not eligible to apply to be their own LEA.
